JUMP AGAIN -- a Forum for New World Culture: A Blog by Ray Grist

Shawn Walker

A lifelong Harlem, NY resident, Shawn Walker has more than 50 years of professional photographic experience: first as a documentarian, working in analog and film, and more recently a fine-arts photographer, working in digital and video. He has more than 40 years as an adjunct professor and has taught in various other venues.  Shawn is currently teaching for the United Federation of Teachers (UFT).

A founding member of Kamoinge, the longest existing black photographic organization in the US, he has exhibited and been collected internationally.

The photographs:

"Painting With Light: Walls, Sidewalks and Streets," is Shawn's newest portfolio. Being new to digital photography, this is the first series that he has digitally manipulated. These are all "found images". They are not digitally created or re-organized -- only enhanced.
